Growing up, my mom used to make Hamburger Helper from time to time. I remember loving it but always feeling sick after I ate it. When I discovered this little turkey trick, I set out to make my own, cleaner version of this childhood favorite by combining this recipe with Homestyle Baked Barley…I think I nailed it.
Brown the turkey in some olive oil and then add beef broth. Here’s my favorite recipe for that: Beef Bone Broth. Add the spices and a little more broth at the end in order to give yourself some delicious liquid to work with. Throw this over the barley and you have a big hit. Not to mention, it takes about 20 minutes to make so if you already have your barley cooked, you’re really in the right lane for a quick weeknight dinner.
