This recipe has evolved a bit from when I first began making the dish but one thing has remained: there are never any leftovers. This is the vegetable of choice for my family with nearly every type of main imaginable. It’s versatile and delicious and most important – EASY. Your table will exclaim, “Gim’me Some!!”
Here’s a little trick with boosting the flavor in your sautéed dishes: infuse your olive oil before you add your veggies or protein. You can do this over low heat or you can do it in a dish off to the side before you start with no heat. Each method gives a little different flavor but they both take your stuff to the next level, flavor wise. I like to do this off the heat because the essential oils really have a chance to dance before you heat things up. For this dish, I mince my garlic and add three drops of Young Living Black Pepper Vitality Essential Oil to three tablespoons of high quality olive oil in a small dish. Just let that sit and smile while you get your beans ready.
Get some fresh green beans, wash and snap ‘em. I like to cut the ends off mine and then cut them into smaller pieces but this is only because I hve small kids and will end up doing this anyway if I don’t just do it at the start. Also, smaller pieces soak up more flavor…so there’s that. I do a pound bag of these at a time and never seem to have enough so do your thing here with expanding the recipe. I have two big people and two little ones at the time of this writing and we crush all the beans.
When you’ve prepped the beans, throw them in a skillet and dump your infused olive oil right over the top. Then hit the pile with about 1/3 cup Braggs’ Liquid Aminos. Now you just cook this beautiful mix over medium heat for as long as you like, turning them every few minutes so they get the flavor evenly all over. My husband like them soft enough that you don’t actually have to have teeth in order to eat them but I like a little more life in them, myself. This is your personal preference – I usually begin to cook mine before whatever else I’m cooking and then turn the fire way down once they’re how I want them if I’ve got other stuff going. About 20 minutes.
You’ve got all the flavor of soy sauce in the Aminos with a fraction of the sodium. The garlic and Black Pepper Vitality light up the olive oil and really bring some goodness to these otherwise boring vegetables. I’m telling you, these will fly off the plate. I do side pairings with my Killer Quinoa, mashed potatoes, Honey Sweet Potatoes, roasted broccoli or brussels, or my Rockin’ Roasted Russets. Basically, you can’t go wrong with these as a side.
Cheers!
